You mean they will do a risk assessment and decide its not for them.

#2 is the more important factor, but yes, it's not worth the risk.

But what about the greater good? Bring democracy to the people, overthrow an evil dictator and and of course the WMD's

It's just Asian face-saving/gaining for his new heir. Jong Il is on his way out and his son can't really take over a military state without first showing the world/his people that he's a badass.

If there was no war over the Cheonan sinking (which I think was sunk for the same reasons), then there probably won't be anything from this. I've heard from US soldiers stationed in Seoul that they drills with the Korean military on disputed territory like this every year -- with the sole (seoul? haha) goal of pissing off Pyongyang.

I've also read that everytime North Korea tests a rocket, defense people pop a boner because we know they only have enough fuel for a handful of rockets, so that's just one less threat.

I'm moving back to Seoul this coming weekend btw. Am trying to plan to go from the airport straight to a Tiefschwartz party

the real question is, what is anyone going to do about it? A whole lot of nothing. The U.S. isn't interested in another war and China loves nothing more than the status quo. Then again, what are your options? Not much. More sanctions?

I know this sounds naive (so forgive me) but I find it mind boggling that in this day and age with the knowledge, technological advancements and lessons learnt from past history that war still topical.

With the high prevalence around the world today, it's disturbing how many people are so primitive. Neanderthals all of them.

here's what one of my Korean friends had to say about this:

As far as some happening in Korea, it is OK. So don’t worry about it.
I have lots of friends in that area and they said there are definitely calm and safe.

I know it looks much bigger happening to other countries.
Also when I was in US to study English, I saw the news about North Korea.
At that time, it was a small happening. But I felt it looks very dangerous when I saw the news in US.
But in fact, it was just small happening when I check it to my family and friends in Korea.
So don’t worry about it. Korea is safe and everything is OK now. J

So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:

                              1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
                              2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
                              3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
                              4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...

Do you guys here know that everyone in North Korea is brainwashed? Everyone in North Korea literally works for the Government, there are no regular jobs in North Korea. Kim Jong has aloud millions of his people to die of starvation by not allowing any aid into the country. This guy is worst than Hitler.

It was fun while it lasted...
