Glaswegian techno whiz Alex Smoke has been hospitalised in Melbourne following his appearance at Revolver on Sunday night. He is undergoing surgery for a lung collapse that occurred during his set at The Likes Of You Summer Series show.
As the statement details: “Approximately 15 minutes into his DJ set performance, Smoke claims that it hurt ‘every time the bass kicked in’ but he was not deterred and continued to perform, seemingly unaware of the severity of the situation, despite the immense pain. Displaying a work ethic beyond the call of duty, Smoke decidedly honoured his scheduled one-hour DJ set.
“As soon as his performance concluded, Smoke expressed to the venue managers that he needed to go to the hospital when they immediately rushed him emergency where doctors soon had advised him that he would need to undergo the keyhole surgery that is scheduled today.”
As he is expected to remain in the hospital for at least another week, Smoke has been forced to cancel the rest of his Australian tour. He was scheduled to play at HAHA Industries' party in Sydney, a secretly located event in Auckland and the Strawberry Fields festival this Friday night outside Melbourne.
