I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

I dont have an old one
It was a simple desktop connected to my TV with a shit load of drives (well 3 internal and 2 external). I've run out of SATA ports so I'm moving to a dedicated Storage box.

Looks good Kamal, i wouldve bumped up the CPU spec a bit.

How do you connect it to the TV? and what OS will you be running?
        Dont panic, its organic.

Re: So I finally purchased my Media Server

Well its just going to be a media server dishing out data and taking backups. Most of the popular ones (The HP EX495 for example) has a dual core CPU so I just went with that to keep the price low (since no one will actually access the server). My media center PCs are connected to the TV from HDMI out and audio is connected to my logitech z5500. OS is Win7/Media Center.

Re: So I finally purchased my Media Server

I'm finally giving up on my current PC. It's 6 years old, and with my computer troubles earlier today involving t tin snips, dremel, my computer, and a brand new 2TB drive snapping, I just decided to buy thew the same thing, with a different processor

Thanks for the research and the recommendation... it better not suck or I'm gonna be pissed

well I'm getting the same processor as you since my oversight has taught me to be a little more careful

Awesome.... looks like a very solid rig! I'm jealous right now... have no time to build any damn thing!

Post some pics please when you get this baby rocking

Edit- btw that case is perfect for a media server.

I know, and I frickin love it. Massive size, great cable management, side facing HD loader bay, massive 120 MM fans, blacked out interior, and with tons of 5.25" drive bays, getting a converter bay to load a SATA cage and expand storage by another 4 drives means I wont be media server searching for a long long long time.

I'm sorely tempted by one of these (although I actually need to find a job first)

I'd probably wipe Ubuntu and put on Windows 7 (just makes life easier with networks and the like), make it so it boots straight into XBMC as a shell and all movies and the like will be held on my PC (Although this will change to a dedicated NAS server at some point).
It does have an Intel Atom processor though, which I have no idea what that's like. This machine will also have a few Sega/Nintendo emulators on it so I'll need a cpu that can keep up with that.

All admin of the machine will be done via remote desktop so the user will never even see the desktop.
