So I was watching 'Good Morning America' and they were talking about this little guy. They interviewed an OB/GYN from LA who helped to deliver a 15 lb. baby not too long ago. Turns out that the mother is diabetic and over the time that the mother was carrying the child, the child began to 'feed' off of abnormaly high levels of insulin which is a growth hormone in children. Hence the reason he's so large. At this point they are feeding the child Glucose in an attempt to regulate his blood-sugar levels. Since all of this is relatively new phenomena (actually knowing the root of the weight gain) they are still unsure as to whether the child is at a higher risk for diabetes (aside from genetics).
