Last night, was my first time to go to Creamfields in Abu Dhabi, actually I haven’t been to big festival since GG 2003, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but with Space tent line-up of Desyn, Sasha & JZ my hope were high and I was not disappointed J
After a long day at work & family affairs, I drove the odd 45 min from Dubai to get to Abu Dhabi YAS island, where the F1 track is. The place is simply amazing, Creamfields took place by Ferrari amusement park ( same place as Prince concert few weeks back during F1 race)
Went in about 10:30 where the big stage hosted some of the cheesy DJ’s headed by David Shita
we toured around the event, which was full of youngster getting wasted (on booz as drugs are very hard to come by in UAE) the Wife & I tried to get drinks but Q was huge so we moved on to check the other tents, Universal which was the decent (in comparison to main stage) Trance tent headed by the likes of Above & Beyond, we looked in but we was more interested to check Desyn, so we move on to Space tent where we spent the rest of the night.
Desyn was on from 10:30 and he was playing some good tunes, more of triple sound than his usual melodic/disco sound, but it fit the festival vibe, I had to leave the tent to get some drinks before Sasha start his set and I was back just in time do the Man Like J
Sasha “for my surprise showed-up on time” took control from 12:00, he produced his usual melodic intro sound (check Video) funny enough Space tent was less busy than the other tents, so we had lots if space to dance and move & we had a good spot right in front of stage, his first 3 tracks were beautiful melodic build up, 4th track was nice bass line with more dynamic grove and that was the way of no return for Sasha, his set was absolutely Epic, one track after the other made it a truly amazing set from Sasha, I had few friends who never saw Sasha play live and they were blown away by his set. I think he was enjoying himself coz he was supposed to play till 1:30 but he kept going till 2:20. Also he was playing CDJ all night, No LT J. By 2:00 JZ come on stage and started to get his gear connected, last 2 tracks from Sasha set JZ was adding some effects which was really cool.
Now, I am not so lucky with JZ, he has been in town 3 time in the last 18 month and every time I am traveling or have other commitments, but this time I was determine to go and see JZ and man he is one amazing DJ, his usual presence on stage with the jumping up and down, mixing, CDJ and drum machine tricks made his set very enjoyable. He produced his usual Robotics sound with some fat base & plenty of breaks.
The plan was that Sasha would go back2back with JZ, but I guess Sasha extended set didn’t leave much time for this to happen, 30 min before the night ends (3:30 AM) I made my way out leaving JZ rocking the Space tent ( I was told at one point that he left the stage and went down to the crowd playing with drum machine and dancing J )
All in all, it was a great night and wicked sets by Desyn, Sasha & JZ…..I’ve took some video’s.
