House On The Hill, a strong newcomer on the San Francisco scene, aims to deliver fresh, eclectic sounds of house music. The label strives to appeal to fans of the sounds found on Freerange, Detour, and Lost My Dog while adding something new to the deep house genre. With this fourth release House On The Hill presents "It's All About" from SF-based DJ/producer and label don Ed Mazur, backed by delicious remixes from UK house sensation Giom and bay-area producerLaron (AKA Swan).
Mazur first garnered notice with his floor-shaking house remix of Radiohead's "A Punchup At A Wedding", released on vinyl on the Tweekin Records run Fresh Press imprint. Mazur's previous HOH release, the A View From Within EP, was supported by DJs like Inland Knights, Da Sunlounge, Karol XVII & MB Valence, and more. He's also earned his chops as a DJ playing at many club events and parties in the San Francisco underground, and is a regular fixture at the Green Gorilla Camp each year at the Burning Man Festival. Ed Mazur has since set up the House On The Hill label to showcase his tastes in the rich variety that exists in the spectrum of house music.
Mazur's original "It's All About" features up-and-coming Orange County vocalist Alexandra Lojek. Alongside a driving electric bass and hard hitting beats a wah-wah Rhodes piano trades off with Alexandra's soaring vocals. It's a track that evolves within its length creating excitement for the dance floor. Giom (Lost My Dog, Ornate Music) delivers a dubbier yet punchier mix than might be expected, filled with swirling, filtered keys, a nasty organ riff, and his trademark house rhythms. Laron, AKA Swan, next presents a west coast-style rework that's propelled by a large bass line and chuggy beats. A dramatic breakdown shifts the rhythm guaranteeing a positive dance floor reaction.
Fred Everything (Lazy Days) - "Really feeling mon ami Giom's remix. Can't wait to play this on the weekend."
DJ Heather - "Diggin' the original and Giom's retouch. Good stuff."
Chuck Love - "Sick deep track. I'm loving the Giom and the original! Great vibe; moody and infectious."
Tyree Cooper - "I'm feelin' this because it has that slight Chicago touch to it ... nice."
Deepchild (Trapez) - "Yeah, the original hits the spot. Overtones of Luomo make my day."
Soul Minority - "Great EP, great track. I love all versions and will play."
Miles Maeda - "More funky fun with Giom! Also loving the original."
Funky Transport - "Love the Laron mix. Will be playing this loud … wobble wobble!"
Craig Stewart (Acryl) - "The Giom mix is a silver bullet for the dance floor. Believe me - you need this!"
Additional support from Atnarko, Inland Knights, Jason Hodges, Joshua Heath, Hector Moralez, Jay West, Random Soul, Tommy Largo, Robert Owens, Gavin Hardkiss, Murray Richardson, and Rick Preston.
