I suspect we're going to show up on a lot of people's lists until more people start subscribing to more favorites. The good thing, at least, is that it shows match by rank. GarryX only has 22 favorites, so it's cool to see that he is a better match for you than I am with 87. He must like nearly everyone that you do

Seriously though, the more i think about this the more i like it mate.

In the new year i will do more for the database and get some more new profiles in. Its coming on nicely though.

What algorithm are you using to rank? There seems to be the same users listed for each member. This may of course be accurate, but just interested

- Get all of your favorite artists
- Get a list of all members who are subscribed to each of those artists
- Count the number of people that appear in that list more than once, return the top 10 people

I've considered returning based on the percentage of their favorites which are in your list, rather than the count or yours that are in theirs. I'm not sure how different the results would be, but it's still up for playing around. I'm sure I'll keep tweaking it over time... it's what I do with everything else on ms


The algorithm works... the problem is that there are only 64 people who have subscribed to more than 15 artists. We see a lot of the same members because there are 204 members who are subscribed to less than 10... and about 170 of those members are subscribed to 2 or less. As more people start adopting the DJ Database and subscribing to their favorites, the more accurate these results will be.

Makes sense. I think your idea on using a percentage will improve results. Perhaps as a fourth condition. It may eliminate members who are simply subscribed to heaps of artists that show up in results all the time.

^ Yeah, but it would also give bad results if a bunch of members are only subscribed to John Digweed. They'd all be 100% matches. I gotta figure out a way to key off of both somehow.

^ Hence why I suggested the percentage check is the '4th condition'. Keep what you currently have but weight the results based on percentage.

It starts to get complicated, but might help improve the results.
