Robbie Lowe is ALWAYS a good listen. I wish he'd hurry up and produce some of his own stuff though.

esef: blah hehe... i remember reading somewhere that THC saturates your blood as much as possible pretty quickly... as in after a solo joint or two (depending on ya tolerance...) or ~ 6 or more bong rips depending again on tolerance and the size of the bowl/tube. I hope no one tries to say there's no tolerance with MJ, because we all know if you quit for a month and smoke just a hit or two you get really blazed, but that doesn't happen when you've been smokin KB for a year non-stop heh.

                  Bio:

I'm sitting in an inner Sydney caf on a balmy night as I stare at the screen of my laptop wondering how to begin this. As a writer specialising in electronic dance music, you would think that words would come easy to me. But in this case, they don't. It's hard to define a world class talent such as Robbie Lowe. I'm finding it difficult to narrow down the right words that would perfectly describe one of the most talented DJs in the country.

It's Robbie's unique talent to capture progressive as a sound and then change it to truly make it his own, which makes him different from the rest. That ability has seen him support Sasha, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Dave Seaman, Steve Porter, Matthew Dekay Hernan Cattaneo and some kid called James Zabiela. Just to name a few. Proper progressive in Sydney is Robbie Lowe. Add another layer, a more laidback house infusion and he's rocking the courtyard at Sydneys best dayclub, Sounds on Sunday.

2004 has been a tremendous year for Robbie Lowe. With each set played at Sydney's premier club night, Sweetchilli, he has continually proved to be Sydney's number one DJ. And with that he has gained more and more fans. It's one thing to hear a DJ purely based on word of mouth but its something different when you finally get to experience a set that surpasses all your expectations. This is always the case with Robbie. And he does it with such effortless ease that it seems almost too simple.

Having easily conquered the Sydney scene, it was only a matter of time before overseas came knocking on his door. What better way to introduce the sound of Robbie Lowe to the world then New York City itself. And with that, the month of August in 2004 saw him making a quiet impact on one of the world's most influential capitals of dance music. It was the month that saw him play at some of the most respected underground events such as the Sullivan Room, Le-Souk Summer Shame Sessions and Dumboluna Full Moon Festival, which was held at Lunatarium.

But there was more to come. At the end of October, progressives favourite son, Sasha, returned to Australian shores to promote his much acclaimed "Involver" compilation. Playing in many of the country's capitals, the Sydney leg saw The Man Like.. play at Sounds on Sunday. Who better to open for this truly world famous DJ/producer than Robbie Lowe? This, without question, was a personal highlight for Robbie but what made the day even more special was for him to find Sasha standing behind him during his set and getting into the sounds he was playing. What more could you want then to find one of the most influential people in your career rocking away to your set?

But, like most brilliant careers, there's so much more to come. The future for him is a truly bright one and while having achieved so much already, things will only get better.

Dom Phillips once wrote the following words to describe one of Sasha's sets that was used as an inspiration for Global Underground #009 San Francisco: "You could call it trance: I call it witchcraft." While I'm no Dom Phillips, I will say this: you can call Robbie Lowe's musical style as progressive: I call it world class music.

There are DJs and then there is Robbie Lowe. Find out for yourself.

I have listened to Ricky's December mix about 10 times now. I grabbed the January one earlier and will definitely listen tomorrow. I've already heard great things about it. Thanks esef.
