Substanz Underground (B Class, B Class [Jon Virtue Remix], Mind Frame)
Describe the record in five words.
Grimy, smoky, driving, deep, soulful.
What is it about Substanz Underground that will appeal to the fans?
It’s very different from my other releases – it’s a lot deeper for me, and it’s the kind of music I really enjoy making. I really think that comes out in the record.
How does it differ from your last release?
My last release was driving, peak-time techno. This is a different vibe all together – a more soulful funk.
What was the inspiration for this release?
It does what it says on the tin! One of my very good mates runs a secret afterparty in Glasgow called Substanz Underground – they do all the major parties in Pressure, Return To Mono and loads more. One of the residents, Scott Byrne, is also a very good friend of mine, and he plays the most amazing deep stuff at the beginning of the night. The place has a great vibe with those sounds going on, so I thought I’d make something to fit in with that.
If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
The obvious answer would be Substanz Underground, but to be honest, I’d love to hear the rumbly vibe of the main track, B Class, in the Sub Club. So hint hint, Dave Clarke, get me back in there again…
