    DC Universe MMO

Installed this yesterday after work...so far so good. I created a hero (well a villain actually) and jumped in..reached lvl 8 after about three hours. I will post my impressions as I go along...i needed something to keep me busy until Diablo 3...maybe this might be it.

          Re: DC Universe MMO

Yeah its a pretty decent game. A lot more arcade style compared to something like Wow. You need to remain active at all times and move around as you fight...i genuinely have no major fault to point to with this. Its good fun and keeps you engaged. One thing to note is that I believe it only goes as high as lvl 30 right now - in regards to hero development. I'm at lvl 22 with some hardcore gaming during a 3 day period. I am sure this will be increased...also another thing that bugs me to an extend is character development...i.e. skills, powers etc. I would have proffered more in game variety. Right now pretty much the whole direction of the character is picked at the creation point...I had to start a new character when I realised this.

To sum up...if you're not really keen on finding a game straight away...give this one a little time to grow...a couple of months I would say. That said...you'll have to catch up

If you do venture to Gotham or Metropolis...my heros name is "Hippy Psychopath"

Sounds alright, i'll obtain a copy of it these days.
Just tell me, is there also a loot system or instancing like in WoW, or it all comes down to grind and PvP?

yeah, there are both instances and a practically identical looting system to wow i.e. roll dice need before greed.
There is really no grinding worth mentioning...there have been lots of missions to keep me occupied. Much more fun than WOW in that respect definitely.

The Old Republic should be fantastic , although i think they will have a problem with classes, who would want to choose a smuggler or a commando/bounty hunter, or whatever they make, over Jedi Knight/Consular and Sith.I think they will need some time to iron it out also via patches but that's common these days anyway.
I will visit some game store tomorrow to see if i can buy a copy of DC, will let you know later in the evening.

                        Re: DC Universe MMO

I gave it a shot last night, and I'm kind of impressed, but I don't think the genre is really my thing.

I'm a bit more FPS oriented, and the 15 bucks a month subscription fee seems a bit steep - but they are being smart in promising free dlc. Hopefully it'll find it's audience and not wind up like APB.

You know what really blew me away about it though? The fact that it's so customization friendly in the design and development of your character. You get an item that gives you x power, you can make it invisible on your person to keep the look you're going for. Small thing, but I think that a small customization consideration like that is incredibly smart and forward thinking.
