Re: when too much electro is too much

Alright kiddies, I guess I'll show my age now...if you must talk about genre's (again), then let me school you on what electro is/was....Electro actually emerged in the early 80's, that's right, the 80's....groups like Afrika Bambaata and Soul Sonic Force, Herbie Hancock, Newcleus (Jam On It), Mantronix, Twilight 22 (Electric Kingdom), Hashim (Al Naafiysh), etc....those are the pioneers of the original, actual, factual genre known as E L E C T R O!!! Now this sound being wielded by the likes of Sasha, Diggers, Lawler, Felix da Housecat, etc..., is still house music with electro influences...IT ABSOLUTELY MAKES ME CRINGE!!! I CAN'T STAND IT!!! PLEASE TURN IT THE F#%K OFF!!! Whew, now that I got that off my chest, I'm gonna go put on some good 'ol fashioned proggydeephouseyjazzifiedtechno
      tribalbassandhihatswithsomeflowingsynthyambientsou ndscapes....gotta love it!!!

Guess I'm still in cheezland. I listen to psytrance every chance I get.. spacemen, decepticons, funklab, jackal & hyde, dynamix II... whatever I can get my grubby hands on. Everynow and then I get satisfaction from raping my girlfriend with elektrik powertools. I had 'em hooked up to my portable generator out in the garage, unfortunately we forgot to use proper ventilation and everything got really slow. We really like the bright orange variable speed demolition hammer, matches my jumpsuit swell.

look gokada... what makes music great is that it is in constant evolution. it is perfectly normal that genres will mix to make newer genres. if you are against this evolution that means you are gettin old.

I know, you're right, I am getting old...music should evolve, that's what keeps it exciting...and to each his own...I'll admit it..I'm a snob when it comes to music...no one has to like every new sound that comes out though....it's just my own personal taste, that's all...

Just my opinion though. I hope this electro fad dies soon. There is some really really good stuff out now but most of it is crap.
I've been over this electro faze since it started. Only good in TINY doses, if you ask me.

Sorry for coming off like that, by no means am I a musical oracle...I'm sure many of you are more knowledgable about other styles than myself...I guess the term "school" was a bit inappopriate...It's sort of like hearing some of these commercial tracks that have been remade (i.e. No Doubt's remake of Talk Talk's "It's My Life") and people thinking that it's new...I just wanted to try to educate those that didn't know where electro came from..that's all...I'll try not to come off so arrogant next time...cheers mate...
