Queensland has a category 5 Cyclone heading for it.!!!

Queensland has the biggest cyclone in Australia's history heading for it. It's 600k wide , around the same size as Katrina apparently, but the winds are 50K stronger. They are expecting 1 metre of rain So much more flooding.

I think I am pretty safe in Melbourne Amazingly enough ,up to date it hasn't been deadly. No fatalities recorded. !! They had one a few years ago that wasn't as big but was worse in terms of deaths. Fortunately lessons were learned and the housing now has to be built to withstand a category 5. A lot still didn't, but the preparation for this was superb. It's a testament to all!!

Of course the property damage is huge, but as everyone keeps saying , that can be replaced, people can't.

In all seriousness, Queensland could not have asked for any more.
The capital city ravished by floods with torrents which have affected up to 70% and now this for the northern parts of the state.

All we can do is wait in hope and the fatality and damage level to stay as low as possible...

And that's a bloody good thing! People that are complaining about the flood levy make me ill ! Firstly it's a such pissy little amount. !! It's only for 12 months, and that is part of the legislation. But most importantly, the reason we are not getting the massive fatalities that other countries have is because of the services and preparations and that costs money.!! We should think ourselves lucky we are in a position to help.

Btw Those that say they are not going to donate because of the flood levy make me even sicker It's such a shame that this leaves a nasty taste in the mouth, especially after all the wonderful work from volunteers etc.

I thought the English were the big whingers but boy was I mistaken. I came to Australia and was really overwhelmed with the whole ‘Aussie Spirit’ of helping each other out and chipping in times of needs. Yes the volunteering was fantastic and the initial donations were also fantastic. But as I read only last week of how 80% of the population disagreed against Gillard’s proposition of the levy. It really did make me feel, how can I say, to the least disappointed and ashamed.

So many people jumping on the hate bandwagon. You know what I think would be an excellent idea?? If they actually kept the levy for maybe 5 years and establish a disaster fund with it. Once it was established it would remove politics from our natural disasters !!

The levy is negligible so can't understand why people would oppose it. It's obviously a good thing.

Regardless, labour need to go. They're totally destroying this countries economy and surplus. It's how it is now, and how it has always been. Sure, we survived the GFC but was it a result of labour? No chance. That's the result of years of Liberals in power.

I normally don't comment on spelling, but if you are claiming knowledge of politics, as you seemed to be, surely you should be familiar with the way a party spells it's name. In this case Labor and labour have totally different meanings . If you really meant labour has to go , I'm happy to stop working immediately


Look again, no mention of any particular political party at all. In fact the only mention was a way that would stop politics from being involved.
