        Hour 1: John Digweed

A mighty fine studio set this week showcasing the latest batch of productions rocking John’s world. It’s great to see new labels emerging all the time, showing that the world of electronic music is as vibrant as ever. Case in point, we open with Köln based imprint Telrae - a 10" label for dub and atmospheric techno and newest addition to the Traum Schallplatten family. Telrae has some sublime releases already from the likes Salz and Stefan Gubatz. Here Berlin based Australian artist Deepchild conjures up Burial with his deep ambient dub giving you a foretaste of what Telrae is all about.

Next up are Redanka & Quivver - names synonymous with quality electronica and they certainly don’t disappoint, turning in a warm vocal number that casts an envious glance to warmer climates and simply lets the sunshine flood in. Under The Sun (Deep Into Summer Remix) forms part of Redanka's Three Shades Of Summer EP which includes re-worka of Sasha & Emerson's Scorchio (incl. a semi-controversial vocal version).

The eclectic theme continues as Parisian Arno E. Mathieu delivers more deep soulful sounds - Eternal Sunshine is a joy to listen to with it’s reverberating piano underpinned by warm strings, claps, and tribal percussion as the track slowly builds up tension for the dance-floor. Things get serious now c/o Taster Peter (aka Pietro Marsili) who has collaborating with the likes of Umek and Marco Bailey - here he delivers heads down techno stormer ‘Porno Totale’ which seems destined to raise energy levels in a club near you soon. The package also includes a Samuel L Session remix.

After the break Catalan UNER turns in a real club track that relies on building up the intensity before reaching a crescendo - definately one to hear live. This 3 track EP comes fresh off the back of an incredible 7 nominations for the DEEJAYMAG (Spain) awards as UNER looks to continue his outstanding run of form.

NY based M A N I K has already caused a stir in recent months releases on Four Twenty and Ovum. Now it’s time for him to hit Steve Bug’s iconic Poker Flat with a four tracker brimming with acidic, twisted machine funk. Next John breaks things down, and unleashes two absolute gems. Monza, a mainstay of the Ibiza summer season, launch their own record label. Don’t let the rather naff track name lull you into a false sense of security - white isle regulars SIS turn in a serious chiming tech vs breaks number that you can foresee becoming an integral part of Diggers longer club sets.

We end on a real high, as Omid 16b returns to Bedrock with an advance preview of tour de force 'Rain' - a dark heads down number, 16b tweaks the bass & pitches things down before rising up with staccato stabs as the theme develops. Cue break down, then the beats kick - bang - this one is epic (and out late Feb) !

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
