    Re: Racism in 2011

To follow up on my previous post, you might feel the same here in Dubai Kamal, although the strict laws here kinda defuse any tension before anything gets outta hand but still, being an Indian male here is not very pleasant, less institutionally (although that's a different story) but more in the street and in the bars/clubs, weird looks and to make it worse my gf is European so there's almost a sneering condescension in most people's reaction, all I say about racism is it's pure ignorance and a deep-rooted hate of one's own life and circumstances. Saying that, we Indians have no claim to be any less racist than any other nationality, the way they tend to fawn over foreigners when they visit India is a form of racism in itself

Anyway don't let that put you off Dubai mate. Besides I'm about 6 2 and have the stare of a hungry mongoose so be assured I'll have your back!

        Re: Racism in 2011

Sorry to hear this man, there's nothing i can say to make u feel better. Its always there in small or large amounts depending on the place. Some person has some negative feelings towards you for reasons that never crossed your mind. The worst part is that every single group has been hated on that ever arrived in this country after the 1st settlers, their children and so on quickly forget what their predecessors went through and at the least will engage in telling bad jokes about the next new group. Usually cause they're not as tough, funny nor talented to come up with better material. I never expected to see this thread title on Mercury .

The trap is to retaliate with im better, smarter or some other word that ends in "er". In the spirit of Dr. King lets together keep it on the content of charterer or merit not anything else the best we can. Unless your a Redsox fan, if u are then i am smarter and better than all of you combined . It's one of the reason's i like Mercury. No live performances of Bieber or Lady Gaga, just some of the best quality music in the world. At least imo.

Runningman posting in a racism thread. This should be good. I would tread lightly RM, since there are users in this thread who's names are in orange.

Chin up my friend. Sounds to me like you were drinking next to a sad little girl who hasn't had very much love in her life... that said, I personally avoid bars like the plague, it's rare you are going to meet a stranger who is in a very good place in their lives at a bar. Most are lonely, sad, depressed and pitiful. If you go with a group of friends, that's different, and I typically stay with my group, because when people drink they are idiots (more so than normal). I would not give that lady a second thought Kamal, she does represent all Irish people, or women, but she does represent a drunken fuck. The bartender is not there because of his IQ, or bedside manner, or ability to make the right decisions in life (fact).

Go take a baseball bat and hit a tree 50 times until you feel better or better yet, maybe go on a run or workout MMA style like Matt . But don't let that immature foreigner get you down.

It was fun while it lasted...

p.s. It's very good to have a dialogue about these kinds of things, because they do happen... although it is interesting she was not American...
At any rate, it's important to talk about this kind of stuff, and I commend Kamal for his honesty and openness.

Especially when you get to that place where it's harder to not workout than it is to workout , you know?

Being in good physical shape definitely translates into good mental shape.

The Iron is the best antidepressant I have ever found. There is no better way to fight weakness than with strength. Once the mind and body have been awakened to their true potential, it's impossible to turn back.

The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you're a god or a total bastard. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.
