he is overreacting about the whole thing just a bit.

the family questions asked on a work visa are asked only if your immediate family members have been convicted of crimes. the embassy interview is pretty standard for any country, including france, and the house,phone, and bank accounts are simple to obtain and required to prove you arent using a false ID and/or in contact with any people whom you shouldnt be. the first page of your deed to house and first page of bank account are all thats required. the phone records are fully required though

this is the form he had to fill out, if he really wanted to keep it simple.

A US employer can employ graduate level employees on a limited number of H1B visas in the US. But the quota means this is difficult to obtain.

no i completely agree. but that is the way our country is looking at it, and its not a personall attack against him. i doubt he is singled out. i havent heard of this happening to anyone else. if so please prove me wrong

yea cry me a fukking river laurent. if i "had" to fill out all that stuff to go to another country and play records to all these people who came out just to see me!!! he should think back to the days where he would give anything for this oppurtunity.

Sorry but this sounds as if playing to us audience is some exceptional privilege... Think about it form HIS point of view - there are dozen countries (where loads of fans are waiting to hear him) that don't require you to confess everything about yoyrself and your family. The choice is simple I guess.

exactly, he'll be fine. he aint losing a lot of money, plenty of places will bokk him right up and if not he'll go into the studio and make more money off toons.

i couldnt care either way... but he is blowing the questionairre out of proportion, just go look at it. (my last post)

you're right - it's not the questionairre thats problematic. It's the attitude. Some comments that appeared in this thread make us the last country to visit on my list... Ironically, a similar unwelcoming attitude is very common in... France.

It has got to be the only country where you can't order a bigmac in english...
