China has dramatically slowed down buying treasuries over the last year. So the trend is already set. Why would anybody buy the US dollar anyways? They only export war and corruption.

First it's oil, then its the west, then its China, then US treasuries, now US dollar collapsing.

Have you been asleep lately? The dollar is not in good shape. Soetoro's estimation of the deficit is off by $2.3 trillion and his proposed budget doubles the deficit in 10 years (3rd world for the young generation and soylent green for the rest of us), yet said asinine administration continues right along, pretending everything is fine. Alice in Wonderland anyone? World's Biggest Bond Fund Dumps US Treasury Bills. The financial retardation that has swept this nation has seriously bamboozled so many who are still clinging to some hollow notion of hope and change.

RunningMan, I gotta' say...it does smell like hypocrisy in here. Liberating Iraq was evool but liberating Libya is OK since the messiah is standing behind it.

Excuse me while I go puke.

I'm not denying the shape of the US Dollar, but to somehow imagine that Libya's situation is now going to change the financial state of the USD is a little wild don't you think? If you're keeping up with the situation there, it turns out that French planes were already in the air even before the No Fly Zone was levied, so to dream that China is now going to cripple the US's Financial standing in retaliation to the attacks even when it voted AGAINST it, is remarkably brilliant. Think about that when you're done puking.

Btw, considering China themselves are probably holding the largest reserves of the Dollar outside the US, does anyone really believe that China themselves would do their best to destroy the Dollar's value? Econ 101?

                        Re: Libya

It's not action alone (in Libya) that would cause them to do it...it's a culmination of many things. And you did raise a good point on why they're still holding onto US treasuries. They're not interested in mutually assured destruction (at the moment anyway). Either way, this Libyan involvement is just another costly expense that will add to our already ridiculous debt load. Afghanistan after 10 years is still a quagmire...when does the leadership here get smart and scale back and say no? After we're all living in tent cities?

Sudan is also deserving of its own thread, indeed.
