        Re: Libya

Now the shit will hit the fan. Just like after Saddam got killed. The enemies had something in common by killing Gadaffi and now they will be fighting for power.

What a mess.. what a great humanitarian mission filled with death and misery.

Oh ya Gaddafi isn't dead he has just been removed of power. The Divine Right of Kings is in play here..

It's safe to say the sh*t already hit the fan with reports of killings over the last several months. I guess it could be at high speed now.

I was no fan of this Libyan invasion (an assassination would've been much cleaner, less civilian deaths, et al) but just so I'm clear, are we wholesale discounting the report in the 80s where Gadaffi was accused of shooting down an airliner (and if not him, who are we blaming on this one, the zionists again?)? Do most feel this was a fabrication or lacking in evidence? Would you have preferred if he was forcibly taken to the international criminal court and tried?

NATO dropping bombs/drones left right and centre and providing weaponry arms; Humanitarian?

            This disgusts me:
Muammar Gaddafi's 'trophy' body on show in Misrata meat store

Bloodied, wearing just a pair of khaki trousers, and dumped on a cheap mattress, Muammar Gaddafi's body has become a gruesome tourist attraction and a macabre symbol of the new Libya's problems.
Hundreds of ordinary Libyans queued up outside a refrigerated meat store in Misrata, where the dead dictator was being stored as a trophy. A guard allowed small groups into the room to celebrate next to Gaddafi's body. They posed for photos, flashing victory signs, and burst into jubilant cries of "God is great."
Wounds on Gaddafi's body appeared to confirm that he was indeed killed in cold blood in the chaotic minutes following his capture on Thursday. He was found in the town of Sirte, hiding in a drainage pipe. There was a close-range bullet wound on the left side of his head. Blood stains showed another bullet wound to his thorax. His body, subsequently driven to Misrata and publicly paraded, was barefoot and stripped to the waist.

The whole Islamic belief of being buried after 24 hours, that's out the window. I think this is due to the UN requiring a third party investigation. Well fuck me, it's ok to send in NATO to bomb the fuck out of Libya but we need an investigation on the death of Gaddafi?

The burial of Muammar Gaddafi has been delayed until an outside investigation into the still mysterious circumstances of the former Libyan dictator's death can be carried out, according to a senior member of the governing National Transitional Council.
The NTC had planned for Gaddafi to be buried at an undisclosed location on Friday.
However, Mohamed Sayeh said a "third party will come from outside of Libya to go through the paperwork". He said the third party could be the international criminal court, based in The Hague.
So now all we can do is wait, is Libya going to follow democracy or autocracy?
Also, time to send in the contractors.

OK, I take by the silence that that all of those complaining about his death presume he's not guilty and you must feel the preponderance of evidence is lacking, etc. Again, even if guilty, this is not a valid excuse to go on a costly civilian bombing campaign in the name of freedom (more like NATO compulsion)...a targeted assassination would be another story, though I suspect most of you would also be unhappy about that arguing that the dictator didn't receive a fair trial.

Anyone who doesn't feel sick at the videos of his death worries me a great deal. It speaks more to his killers. But any investigation is pretty well a joke , diversionary tactics. Who doesn't know how he was killed.??

I seriously do not understand the UN.
                    Assassinations = NO
Bombing the fuck out of everything = Shit yes!

                    Such a childish approach.

The United Nations Security Council authorized military force Thursday against Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi's security forces, opening the way for European and U.S. airstrikes within days. The U.N. action, pushed aggressively by France and the U.K., came as Col. Gadhafi's security forces continued their assault toward Benghazi, the de-facto capital of rebels trying to end his 42-year rule.

Yes Gaddafi is guilty for his torment and anguish on the nation of Libya as a whole, but to take him or his regime there must have been a less destructive way. you do have several obstacles such as loyalists, political control, and the likes.

                            Re: Libya

well i think theyve gone a bit too far with what they did to him, but i do understand what lead to this, its like going to a group of kids that there school principal has been beating the shit out of and then tell em u know what, u fight that principal and we got ur back, smart way to get him without staining their hands and being in the big picture as the killers...

on the other side, keeping his body like this and the torture is not islamic, it would have been more just if they caught him and ordered a death sentence on him...but i guess their anger and long awaited capture is what lead to this, ffs if the people catch a thief on the streets of libya he will get beat the fuck out by the citizens before they send him any where, so u can imagine
                            Life's pretty fast..blup..blup...We made it!!
