alright, he is long overdue for a global underground album. I think he is one of the best out there today, and I haven't heard much from him lately. There haven't been any MS specials of Danny in a long time..Comment

6:30 am the alarm clock blares Bon Jovi walking me up out of my stooper. Check my downloads and see I have the new Howells promo finally. I decide to burn disc 1 hoping it's a good morning cd to listen to. I pop it in and as of now it's still playing (repeat). He starts it off nicely with Subway - Thermal and then goes into a gorgeous vocally track (Tomas Barfot - Light Shine ?). As it starts to fade and the Steve Bug remix of AN-2 - Road Through The Rain comes on it starts to get funkier. So far so good, but its about at this time where this mix really starts taking off imo. I start to hear the beats of Ame - Shiro come in thinking it's going to get a little funkier (never heard this track before), but instead the track drives towards a more meloncholy sort of vibe, with some nice piano's/synths laid on top. It's the 4th track in, I just woke up about an hour ago, I can't even think straight yet let alone talk to anyone for a good while when I get up, but this mix is starting to make my head bop early in the morning. I find myself reaching for the volume knob about an average of 2 times per track so far progressively getting quite loud in my car. Just as Shiro ends I hear another funky bassline bringing the mix back up, it's none other than the Post Modern Sleaze remix by Sneaker Pimps, now this mix has me completely locked in, but shit I have to go to class.
I return from my class eagerly anticipating my 45 minutes drive home so that I can hear the rest of the cd. Power on...middle of the Sneaker Pimp's track...turn it up just a little bit more. Just as I think the track is ending he extends it far beyond into Adam Kroll Break 3000 - Discotronic with Keli Ali's hypnotic voice chanting "Post Modern Sleaze" for a good while. Discotronic kicks in with an electro-tinged synth line and another funky bassline that just fits perfectly. It's just building and building and building so far. Now, i've never heard this Hills Of Kathmandu track but I hear it's a classic. So Disctronic is ending but I hear this 70's - ish bassline kicking in, then the guitars and now the driving sub bass roaring underneath. Wow! what a beautiful track, and to think this came out over 15 years ago. As Hills Of Kathmandu ends Howells just keeps the mix driving by bringing in Dj Nique's - Mission. Moving into another electro-y number (Olaf Pozsgay - Like A Virgin) which he mixes perfectly with Silicon Soul - Les Nocturnes afterwards, by this point this cd is clearly peaking, this is EXACTLY the kind of house set I was wanting to hear, he's put all the right elements in all the right places so far. Mimosa - End Of Me (Original Mix) kicks in after Silicon Soul and you can feel the cd coming to a close. Atomphunk - Boogie Down (Kneedeep Mix) comes in next bringing things down again setting it up nicely for Bent - Exercise 5 (last track) which is a perfect ending to this mix. I quickly find myself hitting repeat instead of just jumping right into Disc 2.
I still havn't heard Disc 2 yet, but I'm hoping it picks up where Disc 1 left off. I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorite albums of 2005. I can't wait to pick this up when it comes out in the states, definately worth the buy so far.Comment

Re: Danny Howells GU027 Miami ? all you need to know
I've not had time to review it properly but like mw-1 said, the first CD is absolute quality... and worth spending the money on it alone. The problem is that the second CD just doesn't deliver ? it promises to pick up where the first CD left off and get a little more progressive and a little harder but you wait and wait and it never really hits home. Some people might love it but it wasn't really my cup of tea. CD 1 though
Mind you, anything would sound good after being woken up by Bon JoviAsk me a question...Comment
