Bass-head RackNRuin puts forth his preference for low-slung frequencies in this week’s Clash podcast, with a thoughtful mashup through contemporary interpretations of classic sounds.
The emerging London producer, who has already scored a string of high-profile remix credits and collaborations, favours big blends of bass-led directions in his work, with an emphasis on creative jungle elements, and scored a hit last year with the bouncy old-skool breaks of ‘Soundclash’.
Giving off a subtly energetic vibe, RackNRuin’s mix is of course heavy on the low-end, but also takes in some ambient and soulful moments, allowing each track room to breathe.
Featured in the mix are 2010 big-hitter Breakage, one of Toddla T and Roska’s recent collaborations, a track from Italo fidgetsters Crookers (toughened up by Trouble & Bass’ AC Slater), Skream’s addictive Cassius remix and several offerings straight from RnR, including a fine bassy remix of Joe Goddard’s 2 Bears project.
