that reminds me, what are id3 tags?...and why does itunes sometimes stall when writing the id3 tags?
thanks,
steve
An ID3 tag is a small chunk of data at the end of the mp3 file that contains data such as Artist, Genre, Year, Album, Title, etc. The lag associated with updating/writing ID3 tags is definitely a pain in the ass. I'm not sure why it takes so long to rewrite the tag, but I've noticed the larger the file size, the longer it takes to update.

Thanks for digging up this 3 week old topic to post your opinion. I never thought of that until now, but thank god you posted or I may never have considered it.

I have the Ipod 4th gen with a 20 GB HD...can somebody confirm that this damn battery lasts for max. 5 hours (and not 12 like claimed) when you only listen to sets (1 hour +) and not to tracks?
No way man. I have the 40 GB iPod photo now and before that the regular 40 GB iPod and both lasted much longer than 5 hours but not as much as 12 when listening to nothing but 1+ hour DJ set files. How long have you had yours? It could be defective. You can always replace your battery on your own if your Pod is past warranty. I've heard it's a fairly painless process.

If it's a continuous mix then it's all one track anyway, right? How would the iPod know where to insert track-start and track-stop points unless it somehow was capable of reading a cuesheet?

What I mean is, for example..... I rip my GU18 track by track and then I upload it in to the ipod, will it load at the end of each track or will it just jump to the next one with out stoping????
