Digweed 1st hour - deep, dark, and moody: Just the way I like him.
Last two tunes before the guest mix was superb.

Finally a guest mix who showcases they're own tunes.

        Nice one, cheers mate.

Whoa ... Solee - Aragorn ... surprsingly hands-in-the-air track, didn't think Digweed would drop this either.

Never got around to posting :

                Transitions 340

                Hour 1: John Digweed

                01. V.Rotz - Kiss The Children (Child of Dance EP) [Clock Music | C 00:04]
                02. Fritz & Lang - Crash featuring Lisokot (Maya Jane Coles Remix) (Crash EP) [Airdrop Records | ADDIG16]
                03. Philipp Ort Feat Isabelle Carron - Paris Nights (Inxec & Matt Tolfrey Remix) [Roots And Wings Music | RW015]
                04. Fritz & Lang – The Past (Feadz Remix) [Airdrop | ADDIG16]

05. Kretipleti – Surfsylt (Donk Boys Remix) [Kant Recordings | KAN0036]
06. Ian O’Donovan – Aurora Borealis (Henry Saiz & Marc Marzenit Dark Version) [Bedrock Records | BED90R]

07. Solee – Aragorn [Parquet Recordings | parquet034]

                08. Mauro Picotto – Monogram (Sasha Carassi Remix) [Alchemy | Alcdg014]

09. Giorgio Gigli – Hidden In The Darkness (Skulking in the Shadow EP) [Zooloft Records | ZLFT00E]

                Music & Producers

Things get underway with the 4th release on Clock and some deep house c/o Seville born London based V. Rotz (co-founder of Flumo Recordings and component of duet T.W.I.C.E. V) fresh from the success of his Drama EP on NeoVinyl. ‘Kiss the Children’ is definately one to get the floor moving early on as the muffled vocal and jangling melody is underpinned by smooth synth stabs, crisp snaps and FX letting the groove subtly intensify.

Diggers continues the house vibe with Fritz & Lang, a fresh collaboration between Parisian Francois Touin (who worked at legendary record store Katapult) and Argentina’s N E Stofenmacher. The results fuse Touin’s programming skills with Stofenmacher's jamming talents, bringing together live vocals, guitars, bass, synths & laptops. While the vocals of Russian artist Lisokot hypnotise, Maya Jane Cole [Crosstown Rebels] is one hand to bring an added degree of darkness with her hypnotic remix.

There's a second track from the Fritz & Lang's EP - this one is a slow burning, moody and intricate cut with saturated drums & twisted sounds. Diggers uses a cool tech track from Philipp Ort to bring things together, with duo Inxec and Matt Tolfrey on remix duty. This has had some great feedback already:

                Feedback for Paris Nights

Joris Voorn -- Sweet! Love the original and maqnifique Star mix! (as always..)
Deetron -- Very nice keys in the Inxec/Tolfrey remix and Surrealism is the top cut for me here, Nice one!

Stacey Pullen -- Paris Nights is a BOMB!

Jimpster -- Surrealism mix sounding deadly!

Alex Neri -- Inxec & Matt Tolfrey Remix...love it!!!! Full support..

Next up is the Stockholm Kant imprint and the more minimal & industrial sounds of Kreti Pleti - Malmö duo the Donk Boys [Trapez | Plak] are on hand to make this an all Swedish affair, as their remix builds with some nice added 909 claps.

With the WMC on the horizon Bedrock’s 2011 release schedule gathers momentum. Guy J’s much anticipated 1000 Words LP is still about 8 weeks away, so it’s time to delve into the back catalogue for an unexpected treat. Madrid heavyweights Henry Saiz & Mark Marzenit produce a fine batch of remixes of 2010 celestial smash Aurora Borealis - here they use the original’s lush melodies as a launchpad for something far more sinister, as their remix simmers and broods, before the iconic hook haunts with it’s siren underscored by eclectic synths and intense beats. A real club track.

There’s not let up as Diggers gets into his stride with Aragorn, a clever track that manages to be dark yet simultaneously uplifting. Great DJ support already from Joris Voorn, Dave Seaman, Paolo Mojo, Pig & Dan and more. Aragorn also features on Nick Warren’s forthcoming Balance 018.

Monogram gives proceedings a main room techno injection as Mauro Picotto shows that his musical locker is fit to burst with the release of his brand new long player "TwentyEleven" - another bountiful collection of dancefloor weapons, that once again range from the hard and heavy to the tough and housey. All with that unmistakable Picotto funk and groove.

"Monogram" is the first single from the new album, and sees Mauro displaying those qualities in abundance. Its percussive opening is ramped up by its weighty bassline and rasping hi-hats. Drum rolls announce the first drop, as the beautiful melody devilishly allows us a glimpse. The drums roll on, as the melody teases yet more, before the turbines engage and we are shot into the main break of the track.

Sasha Carassi [Drumcode] is fresh off the back of his stunning remix of Slam's "Collecting Data". Renowned for his 'take no prisoners' techno, Sasha's ability to create raw power, with a solid- groove backbone, is always impressive. His mix of "Monogram" drives from the off. Its electronic throb, gives us the picture of a caged animal. Calmed only by the touch of the breakdown.

"Monogram is another fine example of Picotto's well known rumbling techno sound. The man may turn to the more minimal side of things every now and then, but he never fails to add a punchy dance floor twist to the mix. The original mix is a mid-tempo tech-house rocker with strong kicks, several layers of heavy drums and a deep synth wave in the middle that adds a catchy twist to the overall. Sasha Carassi turns the original into a huge bass-driven techno tune of Beyer-ish proportions"

We end with one of those rare gems that John always seems to find. Inspired by bleak lunar landscapes Giorgio Gigli uses his compositions to convey distinct moods & atmospheres. Hidden In The Darkness is thoughtful, ambient and elegant techno of the highest order.

                Sleeve Notes :

"Skulking in the Shadow represents an epidermal future, similar to the actual present, ruled by oldness and decadence. A crowded future under rain and partial darkness, where just cars lights can give some brightness to the chaotic traffic, where grey skies are furrowed by flying cars. People speaks a mix of languages: french, japanese, spanish and many others. They dress up in many different ways and this seems the only way to communicate. They move around as an unique conformed mass with interior solitude."

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

A bit surprised to find Timo has yet to be added to the db here...having landed on Transitions, he's obviously made it. ;-)
