Re: Japan Radiation is Out of Control
Lets hope not whats said above is gospel and not hype the situation until shit finally stops changing every 1 hour on the other side of the world, and solid fact based info is disseminated. this could in the end (god hope not) be true, but no one knows right now. this is like the standard conspiracy nonsense that latches on to confused reporters audio clips from 30 seconds into the 9/11 event and preaching it were gospel.
Nothing at this time is certain due to everyone reporting from afar, lets just hope the japanese gov't isn't trying to save face and covering up anything that could kill people and have a devastating environmental impact. until then 5-7 minute clips from <insert tv network here> are as good/bad as anything else. but i'm going to be more apt to hope to believe the few people who understand the science over bill oreilly shouting at some hapless SOB he picked this week to get his ratings up.Comment

you aren't going to get the facts from the Tokyo Energy Company just like the russians didn't tell anyone about Chernobyl.Comment

honestly: why are you not living in a cave in antartica if you are so paranoid about every single gov't entity in the entire world? why are you not starting 100 threads a year about the cops/big pharma/corporations/banks/oil companies in your own backyard? this is a gaping ideological hole in your posts imo.Comment

TEPCO = Tokyo Electric Power.
In 2002, TEPCO's president and four executives resigned after it was revealed that repair and inspection records had been falsified.
"It was discovered that TEPCO had covered up incidents of cracking in an important piece of equipment with the reactors' vessels of all its reactors, and as a result, they were forced to close down all 17 reactors," says Philip White of the Citizens Nuclear Information Center.
Then, in 2007, after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake, TEPCO told the public the plant had suffered a minor fire and leak of a gallon's worth of radioactive water. It later turned out the fire had burned for two hours and hundreds of gallons of radioactive water had leaked into the sea.
"There's a pattern that has emerged that TEPCO isn't frank, and deliberately covers up to protect its own interests," White says.

Stuxnet virus?
All backup generators failed?“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

Re: Japan Radiation is Out of Control
I think they have to stop this little band aid of trying to cool the reactors and get more aggressive with what they did in Chernobyl. Fill it with sand and figure out how to enclose the whole plant with some sort of a dome to prevent radiation from leaking out.
The generators probably failed from those massive explosions. That is why I wasn't very optimistic about them trying to get the power back on.Comment

why are you rolling your eyes? The situation is fucked. They need to start doing more. You can't let massive amounts of radiation out.
