    Re: Sasha interview on ra

Yeah, it's amazing that I play a record one night and the next day the opener Dj has a copy of it. But ultimately these trainspotters are not the most important people in the club, the most important people in the club are the ones who came to dance, have a good time and have big smiles on their faces.

I think it's great how he's pushing the "way" DJing can be done. Everyone's using computers these days to produce, so it's neat to see the computer coming into the booth to mix down the tunes too.

It'd be interesting to know if that special device he has will ever make it down to the consumer market or will it remain a one-off.
may the groove be with you

Definitely great interview! I would like to see some more original Sasha productions in the future as well.

anyone know who the team is??
              1 might be Charlie May
              Im on his team :P
It would b awesome to b a part of that team! Where do I apply!!!??
              Well....
Reading the interview "being on his team" sounds more like being one of the guys that does all the extremely boring beat-tapping for the 1000's of songs he has to import into Ableton.

              As I read it :
              a) For the beatmatching, each song has to be pre-processed and 'tapped' to the beat to store the right BPM. This is NOT automated, you have to do it yourself.
              b) Being a famous DJ he has to have 1000's of songs in his database.

Would you like to be a tap-monkey ?
I can do this extremely quick. I use an old demo version of that Atomix DJ software, which is a bit crap in itself, but has a BPM finder. That gets the right BPM?s around 90% of the time, so that saves me a lot of time when warping (marking) stuff in Live. And for 4/4 stuff it?s also really easy to mark the stuff...takes like 2 minutes per track.
