The crew at Spacestation takes a little voyage east this month picking up some very exciting passengers along the way! Expect the Horse and Groom to be scattered in a meteor shower of the finest cosmic disco, Balearic beats, deep grooves, synth driven melodies, funk fuelled boogies and intergalactic vibes!
We’ll be beaming dance music legend Justin Robertson on board for his first mission upon our comic music vessel. The word Legend is often banded around the music industry rather flippantly, but here I think it’s safe to say it’s well deserved! If our space station was fitted with a time machine, with clocks set back to 1989 you’d see Justin Robertson at the forefront of the acid house movement. Fast forward through space, time and musical influences including northern soul, dub, disco, punk, Detroit techno and minimal house, add a generous sprinkling of hit remixes for the likes of The Manic Street Preachers, New Order, Erasure, Happy Mondays, and Björk and you’ll find our man Justin ready to rock out the intermit surrounding of our east London venue - The Horse & Groom. soundcloud.com/justinrobertson-deadstock
The small venue big line up philosophy that the Spacestation troops have adopted is further bolstered with the awesome Stopmakingme. Well known for his residency at the London institution Fabric as well as a regular at nights such as Bugged Out and Durrr. Now his star is set to rise further as Erol Alkan has handpicked him to be a part of his Phantasy Sound label.
Dan’s love for Trash, Optimo, Soulwax and older references like The Paradise Garage all come through in his DJ sets where electro and techno sit alongside updated post-punk, huge disco, mutant new wave and perfect pop choruses whilst no momentum - or any dancefloor - is lost. soundcloud.com/stopmakingme
Firmly making their mark on the intergalactic disco scene, with an emphasis on Total Feeling, Cosmonauts musical style flips the boundary between tripped out balearic house and full-on italo disco.
Their monthly Spacestation parties at Ministry Of Sound have become the place to play for the rising stars of nu disco persuasion. The Magician, Pete Herbert, Villa, Faze Action and The Revenge have all graced the Spacestation flight deck and with forthcoming appearances from Bottin and Diskjokke over the next two months, things seem to be going from strength to strength..
Cosmonauts are now ready to teleport over to the Horse & Groom to excite the east London crowd with their unique blend of intergalactic disco for what should be the first of many a memorable night.
The new single, Disco Biscuit is released at the end of March on Rayko's Rare Wiri imprint and it only goes to prove that these guys mean business.

Re: 25.03.11 - Spacestation w/ Justin Robertson, Stopmakingme + Cosmonauts

After a triumphant first mission back in March, the Spacestation crew are back on the 27th May at the Horse and Groom in Shoreditch and ready to embark on their latest voyage, with Disco Legend Pete Herbett and Rekids star Toby Tobias at the helm.
Spacestation takes you into the outer stratosphere of disco once again, as it docks in at its home away from home, The Horse and Groom. Be prepared for a glittering with array of Balearic beats, deep grooves, synth driven melodies and intergalactic vibes as we boldly travel into the early hours and beyond!

    Pete Herbert

From the streets of Notting Hill Carnival at the infamous Sancho Panza to the dance floors of the world, Pete Herbert has shared his music and kept disco alive. Slipping back to familiar territory, Pete Herbert makes his second Spacestation appearance after his debut in the 103 back in 2010. Spinning a spectrum of disco house, the humble Herbert spreads his wisdom over the upstairs @ The Horse and Groom.

    Toby Tobias

No stranger to disco-ing it up where needs be, man about town, Toby Tobias has earned his gold stars on the circuit both internationally and amongst London’s tough party scene. Various releases and sets have kept him afloat but what him makes him different from any other dj is his epic performances which are an enchanted artform in themselves.
