‘Llusive’ is the third release on S35 Records and it’s an important release for us for so many reasons.
It gives us an opportunity to showcase the talents of West Coast legend Josh Abrams and one of ‘England’s finest progressive exports’, Ben Coda whilst giving us all an opportunity to honour the life, spirit and memory of Leslie ‘Llusive’ Hirschorn who sadly passed away in December 2010.
Josh Abrams carved a niche for himself in West Coast USA holding down DJ residencies at big name venues, ‘PURE’, ‘Spundae’ and ‘Qool’ whilst indulging his musical passions over the airwaves on Protonradio and with his monthly ‘Brown Paper Bag’ show on friskyRadio. His move from LA to Vegas gave him opportunities to showcase his sound in the strip’s finest clubs whilst focusing his attention on his production work.
Partnering Josh on ‘Llusive’ is the incredibly prolific Ben Coda, a producer who has already featured on labels such as Black Hole, Baroque and Inkfish with DJ support from Paul Oakenfold, Nick Warren and our very own Mara. Ben’s tech-prog sound crosses boundaries; tough beats and rolling basslines contrast with soaring melodies, fusing tougher sounds of techno and tech house with classic progressive house.
Together the duo have recorded an intense and up-lifting slice of melodic house that is a fitting tribute to Leslie, who many will have known from her message board screen name, Llusive.
Leslie was a staple in the LA club scene for a number of years and was known by clubbers from all over the world, Josh describes her as ‘one of the kindest, most genuine, and downright fun people to ever grace our group of friends’. Leslie lost her battle with breast cancer in December 2010, therefore all artist and label profits from this release will be donated in Leslie’s name to the worldwide breast cancer charity ‘Suzan G. Komen for the Cure’
