Background Techno Experience Podcast - Episode 194 HEBBO

Sometimes you have to lose yourself in order to find a better way. It’s not a conscious decision, it can’t be forced– it’s just the way of the wanderer. Born and raised in Shah Alam, he discovered electronic music in his late teenage years. Before long the voodoo lure of the dancefloor and club life was too much to resist and he fell head long into his obsession. After strictly clubbing for a few years, he took the next logical step by beginning to Djing. Later he joined Excessive Record to keep the groove intact to complete his crossover next mutual plan.Within a very short space of time he made his mark, earning a coveted residency for the Love International affiliated Push parties in KL and beyond. Here he played alongside KL stalwarts such as RaySoo and Bryan Burger and international guests such as Tootekool, Nic Liu and Emmanuel Ternois. Soon after, inspired by hedonistic cutting edge clubs both in the KL and Ibiza, Hebbo and a group of friends launched Minimalaysia in 2008. In a short period of time, Minimalaysia also became known for taking risks with bookings, breaking new, fresh talent in the KL, something which Hebbo was largely responsible for. During this period, Hebbo' reputation has soared with being named "Best EDM DJ" in 2009 by Clubbing9 Top 5 DJ Award. He has played many of the KL's most respected parties / venues from smaller more underground venues such as Cloth & Clef, Palate Palette, Frangipani, Lobby to larger venues such as Bedroom, Marketplace, Blanc Le Club, Warehouse, Ecoba, Raw Bar, Maison, Zouk and various clubs in KL to name just a few.Musically his style is focussed around Deep House and Techno with a warm, hypnotic feel. However his sets draw on many styles from Chicago to Detroit to more modern European influences. Most of all though, Hebbo' sets are noted for their strong programming, passion integrity and his unwavering ability to uncover hidden gems both new and old.By January 2010, he was asked to contribute a mix to the hallowed MyNightlife.FM podcast series with other artists previously being which received huge praise support from the international community and lineup is typically strong among them are renowned artists like: Mark Henning, Virginia, Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner, Jeremy P Caulfield, Mikael Stavostrand, Robert Babicz, Ray Okpara, Tom Clark, Mihai Popoviciu, &Me, Click Box, Tolga Fidan, Par Grindvik, Todd Bodine, Agaric, Florian Meindl, Samuel L Session, Quenum, Exercise One, Daniel Dreir, Hermanez, Perc and Mihalis Safras just to name a few. This is swiftly followed by a long list of mixes he's created for stations and podcasts like KL's Joey G & DJ Gabriel radioshow Turn It Up! on Capital FM88.9, Vienna and Berlin taste making Eter.nl, Play.fm, Ensonic FM, Proton Radio, Background Techno Experience and also for Singapore's Electrocaïne Podcast once again eschewing the route for a raw, natural and honest approach. in the pipeline then there are a couple of his own mix compilations. Now after launching his own podcast almost a year now he quickly received amazing supports from local and international acts and has also been approched to the 56th edition of the next instalment of series with other artists previously being: Oliver Ton, Monica Soldan, Franco Bianco, Jamie Kidd, Coyu, Nico Lahs, Lula Circus, Yousef, Native Sound, Gavin Herlihy, Nicky C, Terence C, Djinxx, Victor G, Nic Liu & Tommi, Artihc, Alam, DeepHouseSociety, Dezz, Flikswitch, Gaijin, Kubika, Thomas Stieler, Marco Dassi and many more along with support from all his DJ friends from the South East Asia region. 2011 looks to be another strong year for Hebbo and indeed Minimalaysia. His event organising activities also intensified, buoyed by the network of DJs, labels, producers he’d met in KL and work with label like Minimalaysia, Love International and Soundhertz. It was after one particularly intense party. 2011 also holds even more promise for him, with back-to-back DJ mix and collaboration on upcoming EP in the works, it's already becoming more interesting by the day. There seems to be no stopping this Malaysian gentleman.
