I wonder if Adam will continue with the Dropped D tuning for all the guitars

Being gone this long from TOOL and with all the side projects they have all had, I wonder if the TOOL sound hasn't changed for good....

I was suprised that the guitars on Lateralus had similar tunings/compositions to that of Opiate given how far they had travelled since that album.

For me, it's one of those "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of situations though.

True but a band needs to expand out and eperiment with different stuff and not do they same thing over and over again. Tool is defiently a band that keeps expanding out. Personally I think lateralus sounded like a perfect circle cd. I just hope this one sounds a lot better but I am not getting my hopes up to high. I think maynard has fucking up things way to far with his trying to sing in two bands. I guess he has not realized that it is not going to work. The first time was just luck. Stay with that.

hmm. i have to disagree with you on that... lateralus was certainly a departure somewhat from the previous discs, but sounding like one of the perfect circle cds? um... hmm.. how do you mean?

obviously his voice is going to sound at least somewhat similar, but it seems to me that both lyrically and his vocal stylings differ between the two bands.

im pretty sure that the two bands thing isnt has hard as it might sound... for both bands, maynard is the vocalist... all of the songs are primarily written by the other members of the band. yea, there is some suggestion and discussion, but nothing that requires weeks of studio time for maynard.. a few lyric and melody (for his voice) ideas are thrown around, but once again nothing that requires more than a few hours a couple days a week.. when its finally time to record the cd, i bet you it only takes a week or two to finish up tracks arrangements and lyrics.

thats how lateralus was written, thats how both apc albums were as well.. so it seems that it works.

same show. but it's still good rock, which is rare now days.

Strait up. I have drifted so far away from rock, even though I used to be die hard. Its because all Rock suxx nowadays. Having another Tool album is going to F#*)@$&@#*( RULLLEEE
