Its Greece vs the USA for the next bit of Great Stuff, as Umek collaborator Christian Cambas joins forces with the prolific Bryan Cox, teaming up under his PHNTM guise. Inferno is a fittingly fiery slice of groovy techno, with a Moroder-esque bassline wiggling away like a deviant under slick, carefully cut percussion. Lively horn samples are filtered into submission along with classic chord stabs and vocal cuts to keep the track rolling along, the whole thing an exercise in taking quality elements, and keeping things simple. With a few big swooshes of course. This is feel-good party techno, best consumed amidst a sea of people on a sunny day in front of an epic stage and sound system.
James Dutton forthcoming with his his contribution to Munich Disco Tech Vol. 11 comes with his deeper remix on the flip. The Brit kid keeps those horns filtering deep in the background in a French disco fashion, bringing a throbbing, stripped back tech groove to the fore for you to sinkyour teeth into. A perfect building block for a set, its a remix that burns away in a solid yet succinct fashion. Winning
