John Digweed - Essential Mix 1995-09-03 [New source]

This one was posted a while ago on another board (nfo and credits included), both as lossy mp3 and lossless. The source is analogue (original recording on video tape), and it does sound differerent from the version that is widely available. It's cleaner but a bit too loud, make up your own mind. If you're new to this set, then you're in for a treat.

    Part 1

    1. Young American Primitive - Daydream [ZoëMagik Records]
    2. Young American Primitive - Over & Out [ZoëMagik Records]
    3. Simply Red - Fairground (Quivver's Amytiville Dub) [EastWest]
    4. Lighthouse Family - Ocean Drive (Blue Amazon Dub) [Wildcard]*
    5. Daphne - Change (Brothers In Rhythm Remix) [Stress Records]**
    6. Sasha & Maria - Be As One (12" Mix) [Deconstruction]
    7. Quivver - Believe In Me [Perfecto]***
    8. Tenth Chapter - Wired [Jackpot]

    Part 2

    1. Zee - Dreamtime (Quivver Vocal Dub) [Perfecto]
    2. Zee - Dreamtime (Quivver Vocal Mix) [Perfecto]
    3. Libra Presents Taylor - Anomaly (Calling Your Name) [Musicnow Records]
    4. Spirits - Don't Bring Me Down (Chris & James DMC Remix) [DMC]
    5. BT & Sasha - Heart Of Imagination [Deconstruction]
    6. Crescendo - Are You Out There [FFRR]
    7. Blue Amazon - No Other Love (Original Mix) [Jackpot]

*Also available as The Dub Family - Lifted (Blue Amazon Dub) [White Label]
**Slightly different to the version released. Early acetate version?
***Slightly shorter breakdown to the released version

Listening now, certainly the treble is up a bit (more hiss than the previous version, but ? due to sourcing)- maybe a bit cleaner overall.

But- whatever improvements this is a stellar mix- just how good is the mixing over the first 4 tracks? Magical

As sbando says, if you've not heard this before you are in for a treat!

Said this so many times but gonna say it again.

This is by far the best Diggers e-mix there has been.
