Making a name for himself in a short space of time and acquiring an impressive following as both DJ and producer, Kissy Sell Out has been a staple of the alternative club and electro scene for a number of years. So, what better way to explore his favourite sounds of the moment than with an exclusive Clash DJ mix from the man himself?
An eclectic selection of tracks and big, bold club sounds are on offer, all of which are given the distinctive Kissy treatment, including some nice old-school vibes (from the likes of Rat Pack, Onyx and Yazoo) mixed in with plenty of contemporary cuts from Simian Mobile Disco, Marc Houle and numerous others, all showcasing Kissy’s penchant for mashing-up genres.
A particularly quirky song-splice that fully hits home is a rework of ‘Love Buzz’ which shifts into a nicely wonky club cut of Riton’s ‘Square Eyes’. Good stuff.
The mix finishes with some timeless sounds from The Cure and Kissy’s rework of a Devendra Banhart track (intercut with a punchy Billy Idol remix) – a classy way to end things.
Kissy’s album ‘Wild Romance’ is released on 6 June on San City High Records, with a single, ‘Homesick’, following on 13 June.
