It´s been quite some time since I´ve been excited by the tracklist in a Balance comp, but this does it for me.

Some huge tracks in there, and at least judging from those tracks I know, it actually looks like it makes sense while displaying a lot of variety.

Over it. These tracklists are like DJs comparing dick sizes. I remember when Joris Voorn did that Balance and it was so hyped. But all the subsequent live sets I've heard from him have been meh to the point I stopped checking him out.

(Contrast with the consistent faves like Digweed or Cattaneo or Warren et al, who mix straight up and always deliver.)

And this is not to say the music is good or bad. But I'd rather listen to a good-sounding mix rather than read about how many tracks and samples and edits went into it. And if a mix is bad despite all that, it's still bad.

Couldnt agree more. Bored of all this 're-edit, re-sample' comps. My favourite comps are still the ones where it's 12-14 tracks on one cd

voorn and agoria are pretty much the only people who i want to hear play a shit ton of edits and layers, will give this Deetron one a spin though

Some of my favorite comps have been ones with a load of tracks on them. As long as it flows nicely and has a good vibe, I could care less how many tracks are on a mix. Voorn's Balance, Digger's Transitions 3 & 4, Wighnomy Bros. Metawhateverthefuckitsays, all had tons of tracks and edits, and they're all stellar.

I don't know much about Deetron, but I'm excited to hear what he puts together.

We´re not exactly talking about 10-min tracks with 2-min-long breakdowns here. Not that there´s anything wrong with that, I just think it doesn´t make sense at all to judge a comp before hearing it, based on how many tracks there´s on it. And the re-edits stuff... well, the vinyl side has even more tracks...

Anyway, bring it!

Since I made the comment I should clarify: I'm in no way 'judging' this compilation. I was just saying I'm tired of these marketing spiel hyping the many tracks and esoteric edits and layering and what not. Let the music speak for itself. If it's a good comp, it's a good comp regardless of whether it's 10-12 tracks or 60 tracks.

that preview is kinda cool. sounds like if he can pull off the mixing, it'll be great, otherwise it'll be a big mess

Track 7-8 on CD 1 is really weird, but love track 13, the Burial, Four Tet, Thom Yorke mashup.
