Re: Hernan Cattaneo

one of the best sets i've heard from him is his electrofly set from proton radio. Its only an hour long but its fuckin great, it should've been his 2nd cd on his renaissance cd.

WTF?????????????????

comparing hernan to tiesto?????????

je je, you just show you do not know anything about this music man

hernan is probably 1 of the more insane dj's around this times along diggers i guess, if you ever seen him live then you cant say nothing,

[tien]

there is no fuckin way that tiesto compares in the slightest to hernan. I would put hernan next to digweed if anything. just too bad he went with perfecto instead of bedrock, but i guess money talks eh..

I loved that 20 min Cream mix from November ... pity that's all they aired.

The Electrofly@Proton set [ms] hosted in September was very dark ... but amazing - easily one of the best sets from last year.

Can't wait for his May/Jun Uk tour.

I agree...the Electrofly set was wicked....

[pretence]

.....and lets not forget his set from Womb, unbelievable.

Hernan no 1 dj in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This man rockzzzzzzzzz.........

[GrantT]

I saw him ...oooh... about 6 hours ago and I wasn't particularly overwhelmed. That's the same feeling (or lack of it) I got the last time he played here as well I'm afraid.

Mixing was generally very, very good. A couple of key issues, but nothing dramatic.

Tracks were often from the bigger end of the box, which never scores points with me. Some nice squelchy stuff but then he'd dive into prog trance and back out into house. Huge build-ups, big long quieter sections and repeat. Basslines were uninspiring. Just meh.

Programming. Not happy with this generally, but I think that's mainly cause I wasn't properly on board to start with.

He'd basically halved the size of the dancefloor 2 hours into the 4 hour set. Plenty of people still going mental.. just not anywhere near as many as at the start!

Anyone who's interested in Hernan's stuff will no doubt want to take a listen to his new Jan 2005 promo I put on inthemix:

Enjoy

Re: Hernan Cattaneo

Interesting review there Grant, I don't feel so bad for missing last night now.

Saw you down @ glitch on Friday night but didn't get a chance to say hi. What a rocking night that was, definately gonna be checking out Michael Mayer a lot more in the future. Great to see him getting into his own mix so much too.

As for Hernan, while I haven't seen him live yet, I do believe that he's the only dj presently out there good enough to take the reigns from Digweed if he ever decided to retire, and its still such an early point in Hernan's career, he's only going to get better and better.

I hold him in the same regard as Digweed because I feel he's the only one out there who can program a set as good as Digweed can. When he works a groove, he really works a groove and sends his sets to another level. Only 2 dj's out there who can do it so affectively.

not really into Hernan

I don't suppose anyone's ripped Hernan's promo for future hosting on [ms] ?

I ripped it this afternoon to check out in the car. Not sure what the score is with Grant on this one, but I can make it available is he's cool with that.

No need to rip it - if it's going to be hosted, then I'll supply [ms] with my original.

I'll see what his management and the [ms] mods have to say.

Syntax - as for those Digweed comparisons... hmm, you're on your own there matey! Always a little touchy to make comparisons to Diggers on [ms]
