Anybody have some fucking skulls I can bash in?!

I just lost a 120gb hard drive that was about 95% full of all my music, software, and documents. It's still recognized by the computer, but none of the data can be accessed right now. Whenever I try to access the disk, it says it needs to be formatted. Does anybody know of any kind of free data recovery program or something of the sort that I can use?

I need either that or a gun.

That happened to me..... do a quick format..... go to download.com and search for getdataback for NT (if you have an NTFS partition) or just getdataback..... PM me for a hook up and then retreive all your data

Bah. My PM is still in the outbox so I'll just post it here...

So will a quick format erase my data? That would be terrible.

Also it started cracking out by continuously spinning up and down and then it died, and wasn't recognized by Windows for a while. I rebooted and just reformatted my C drive (desperation) to see if that would help, and now I'm in the situation I posted.

i feel your pain MJ, i lost 6 gig of music and about a dozen of my old songs. nothing like hearing phil thompson play your tune, and not being able to actually have it for yourself........

I encourage any and all of you to go get the GetDataBack program. I have it and it has saved me a LOT of hurt and pain...granted I still lost some stuff due to corruption and the like, but I would have lost a TON more had it not been for this program...

E I've got a whole new problem.

None of those numbers worked for me so I tried to find some myself and got ass-reamed by spyware. It wont even let me access my PM's. Adaware wont even get rid of this shit so I'm just gonna format again. Leave me another PM if you can and I'll try and resurrect my computer, and hopefully ultimately my data. Thanks E.

UPDATE:

-E- I managed to salvage all of my important data off the drive thanks to you and FM. GetDataBack is one bitchin' program.

But also I managed something better. I went to Western Digital's website and downloaded their diagnostic utility that was able to find the corrupted sectors of the disk and (somehow) repair them.

So now I have all my important data saved and a clean 120gb hard drive ready for use again, albeit with about 80gb less of music.
