So at any rate, aside from growing up with a funeral director for a grandfather and sleeping every friday night at the funeral home knowing there were dead people downstairs.... I loved this fucking show for so many other reasons I wont begin to list them all.

My statement, and/or question is.... who else here watches it, watched the series finale, and maybe cried (sobbed) for a good half hour as did I earlier this evening? Wow..... RIP best TV show EVER ............ IMNSHO

It?s one of the best TV series ever and I really loved it. As we Germans are always one or two Seasons behind please do not post how it ends. :P

I watched it, almost cried, but was really upset at the last 10 minutes. What the hell is that?! Are we no longer allowed to use our imaginations to dream of what could be. Do we constantly need everything to be wrapped up for us neatly by everyone else. I hate this trend in movies and tv and would love to go back to the days of more open endings where everything is a possibility and there's much more to discuss, rather than just recapping what happened.

I disagree slightly... I dont think they showed us very much detail other than a few snapshots and some life span info.... the gaps are numerous and left to ones imagination or what have you...

I thought a lot about this, and the one conclusion I keep coming to is this... Wrapping up a series, let alone this crazy show, is going to be very scrutinized and there really needs to be some degree of closure... I was glad the show was true to its style/tone with the sort of closure that we got from it, and since I will never learn anything new about what "the fishers" are up to ever again, I'm trying to mourn the loss of ever getting to look forward to a new epsiode...

Why does there always need to be closure? This is a concept I don't really get. Reality's got enough moments where closure is thrown out the window and that's when we need it, but why does even our fiction need the same sense of closure? Without it, each of us are able to determine our own form of it that caters to each of our imaginations and wishes, rather than those of the producers, directors and writers. I tend to find it quite egotistical and condescending on the part of the show's creative team.

I pretty much agree about closure, but when I commented earlier about needing some sort of closure, i meant more of a stepping off point as opposed to getting everything out in the open, and everybody is happy, etc.

I was more off-put by everyone largely coming to grips/peace with their demons so to speak. Neurosis being put to rest seems more of a stray from the nature of the show than the death-wrap-up... I'd say it was a very powerful, well done, but not genious finale... it stuck a lot of emotional chords in me that I usually bury deep deep inside and never talk about, lol, so thats something... maybe thats what I was looking for?

I love this show and it's the only one that I make time for each week. In the UK we've only just started the final series,so like Tom Tom I'm a bit behind. I would suggest no more hints as to what happens but I can just as easily look away from this thread! It's funny how we become attached to tv shows but the quality of this one kinda makes it hard to resist...

yeah, dont read about it, see it for yourselves.... I am very glad to hear that you guys get this show, its important that you see some sort of example of America being somewhat redeemable... maybe we should just rename ourselves, the blue states that is.... being proud to be an american is so September 10th!

once again, that's what we were guessing, it did seem very much like an ob/gyn's office...but perhaps there was more of a clue if I were to watch that ending more closely...
