Absinthe?

[srbbnd]

I tried some absinthe that my friend had brought back from Europe. I loved it, however I know you can not buy absinthe legally in the USA. I was searching online and found some kits. I was wondering if anyone had tried these kits and if they actually work. Any information would be awesome. I was looking specifiaclly at www.greendevil.com.

Thanks,

Sean

Re: Absinthe?

never heard of absinthe kits. wormwood is poison so when it comes to cooking up a batch i'd definitely do a lot of research. this looks like a tight package but i'd hunt down some other recipes and see if there are major discrepancies between them to make sure it's not just a novelty kit. let us know how it goes, i've been curious and got burned years ago on some bunk stuff that i tried to order online...

Re: Absinthe?

a friend made some with a kit...it did work, but it didnt taste as good as normal absinthe (granted he added way too much wormwood cause he wanted the psychedelic effects). buy one from somewhere reputable, i dont think you'll have a problem.

absinthe is legal in canada (though the wormwood content is lower than the european counterpart)...you could just get someone to send you a bottle.

Re: Absinthe?

Thanks for the information so far. Does anyone know how long the process takes?

Dude, you can´t buy absinthe in the US?

Wow, I didn´t know that. It´s pretty damn easy to get it around here.

Wow...good thing my country is populated by alcoholics.

Here?s a joke BTW :

This guy is sitting alone in a bar, and since it?s pretty late already, the bartender tells him he must leave, because they have to close for the night.
But he?s so drunk that as soon as he gets up, he falls down on the floor. He tries again, and falls down again.
So he decides to drag himself to the door, and when he gets there he holds on to the door and makes a huge effort to get up...but he falls down.
So he goes home like this...trying to get up on his feet and falling down everytime, until he crashes on his bed.
The next morning when he wakes up, his wife tells him "Well, you got pretty drunk last night, huh?", and the guy asks "how the hell do you know that?!?".
The wife answers "the bar owner called. You forgot your wheelchair".

Re: Absinthe?

My friend and I bought two bottles of it last year. He did all the research and ordering, I just paid for it. I'll ask him where he ordered it from, we didn't have any problems getting it, but it took more than a month to get here.

That is putting it nicely.

There is a resturant here that sold Absinthe drinks. We asked how he imports it and he said that is French Absinthe with a lower concentration of wormwood which makes it legal. It might be something worth looking into if you are really dying to drink Absinthe.

Re: Absinthe?
