I could force the pixel width down to 800 but that would really screw up the board for those with 1024 + resolutions

what are your screen settings ??? 1024 x 768 ?? Its possible that the menu bar is doing it to, I can resize the menu bar to see if that fixes it

That should do it, I resized the menu bar and even tested it in 1024 x 768 and it looked ok......
