They do all suck, but I've found t-mobile to be the most tech-savvy and cingular to have the absolute worst customer service I'd ever heard of in my life...as they said we can only help you if you have a probelm getting or making calls. So they sell these high tech phones and the plans that go along with them, but they provide ZERO support! Bastards!
In terms of coverage, t-mobile really only have good coverage in cities, anywhere, even a few feet outside, and they suck.

wtf do you need support with? phones are the easiest things to use. user error imo. all the people I talk to have no fucking clue what they are doing, and they blame the company when 90% of the time it something they did incorretly or could not follow step by step instructions.
come on. it's a cell phone company not fucking IBM.

i know my way around a cellphone dude, the problem i had was they sold me a phone that stopped working a couple of months down the line and were a major pain in the ass to deal with, at the time the cheapest replacement they offered me was over $80... they kept me on hold for over 2 hours and said they couldnt do anything for me. i walked into a good guys store half an hour afterwards, and walked out with a new phone for $50. complete and utter cunts, at least while i was on the phone with them i made sure they told me when my contract was up and told them i was jumping ship the first chance i got. its not the only bad experience i have had with them (i also get very shitty reception just about everywhere) it was just the final straw. fuck cingular
perhaps because i am in the industry, i have a different outlook. i am sure there are network fuck ups and defective gear. i am sorry to hear you had such fucking downer time. that does sucks, and yes there idiots every where. seems like people also have this weird idea a cell phone is like a land line and should work all the time. it is the in the air ... do not trust anything in the air. i am surprised they work at all.

i dont expect it to work "all the time" but i do expect to have a couple of bars of coverage at least 70-80% of the time. cingular coverage for me is like i can walk across the fucking street and lose all my bars. everyone i know that has cingular is the same way. maybe its vancouver... who knows, but they suck. and its a shame, because it seemed much better when it was At&t before the merge. after the merge, nothing but trouble. cant wait to ditch these bastards. and i am not naive about how cellphones work, i dont know everything about them but i sold them for about 2 years and spent another year working in a warehouse for a company that sold them, so i know a fair bit. i have also had over the years 3 different companies (t-mobile, but it was called something different at the time, at&t pre-merge, and now cingular.) t-mobile - whatever it was before here - was the best, but i lost my job and was unemployed for a while, this was about 4 years ago, so i had to cancel the service. i was with at&t for a couple of years before the merge and had a few problems, but not as many as with cingular. to each their own, but i fucking hate them!!!
they are (supposed to be) so convenient though, and sometimes they are. i couldnt go without one now... i dont even have a home land line!
oh well, come new year i'll have a different provider and will be happ(y/ier) than i am with cingular. even if they suck, they couldnt possibly suck this bad, and at least i would have a decent reception (which i already know because 3 good friends have them and they get reception - clear perfect reception in places where i got ZERO bars)
I got a landline...after the last blackout we had here in NYC it was a godsend...just make sure to have a phone that's not a wireless
