Can anyone refer me to a site or merchant that builds custom computers? I need something that meets specific requirements, and I'm finding that even customizable boxes are either missing a key spec or two, or are complete overkill for what I'm looking to do.

haven't actually called dell, but from their web site, I'm having trouble configuring it to meet my needs.
I basically need a pretty low-end pc in terms of clock speed with a large hard drive and an s-video out, and that's about it. The s-video thing seems to be the sticking point, as most of the computers with that have more bells and whistles than I need (or want to pay for), while the low end ones don't offer that upgrade as an option. I suppose I could just buy a system and install a new video card, but the last time I tried to do that, I fucked up my system something awful...
calling dell is the way to go with them, their website sucks
gotcha, I'll go that route, then. That puget systems site seemed great until I totalled it up at the end. Kinda pricey, but then what do I expect for a pure custom system.
alienware make sick comps, but might be too much. their prices are high, but they got great tech support, not like dell, but great.
you can go to alienware, look at what they offer then go back to puget and get it cheaper. i did that. monster comp cheap.
I got my Alienware laptop in the mail right after christmas. What an amazing machine. Its nicely done, they were quick about it and they were so helpful on the phone when i first ordered. I dont know about the customer service since i havent required it yet. But big up to Alienware.
i had an alienware system and while they know what they are doing, there is more buerocratic bullshit to deal with than there is in the government. they wont attack what is wrong with your comp, until they rule out everything else. kinda annoying.
i now have the ALX cloned. same friggin equipment as teh alienware ALX , but not from them, i went with tigerdirest and puget and had some kid round my house peice it together. fucking thing is soooo fast. and graphically superior to anything i have seen.
