Hey guys, I just a new iPod, 60GB Video.

So far its awesome but I'm a little confused about the way its set up.

If I get this right, the iPod expects you to keep a copy of music, videos and pics somewhere on a hard drive.

Soooo, does it even make sense to put all your media on your iPod and delete the originals?

if you put all ur stuff on your ipod, you can always download it back to the computer. the ipod works like an external hard drive also, so yuo can store word docs etc.

it doesnt expect you to keep a backup.. doesnt really matter

Thats what I figured, the only thing is 60GB is a fairly large carry on bag...

Any idea on how to make audio books appear in the iPod audiobooks category? Is there a certain way to bring the audiobooks into iTunes?

just be forewarned that the ipods that have optical drives have been known to fail, meaning if you delete something off your comp, and then your ipod craps out, you could be outta luck. its not really suprising when you consider how small they've crammed 60 gigs into. a normal 60 gig hard drive is the size of a paperback book.

1- Just drag any audio (books or otherwise) into itunes to the library icon or just into the main playlist screen... then you can put them on your ipod.

2- NEVER only have ONE DIGITAL COPY of anything you care to keep, cause you never know when shit will happen

Not anymore... more like the size of a pack of trident, or a 30 gig video ipod basically. 60 gigs isnt what it used to be, get used to words like terabyte being commonly used very soon.

If you add music/video to your ipod through itunes, you cant just pull the files off again on another computer or back to your own, this is in order to prevent piracy. Luckily there are many fancy little freeware applications that do this for you easily.

Also, if you want to put files on your ipod, just drag them to the icon for your ipod in finder or your desktop or in "my computer" if thats your thing... If you drop txt files into the notes folder on your ipod you can read them on the go if you like to read and shit.

Creative has a line of products that have better Frequency Response and Signal-to-Noise Ratio. And they are quite easy to use as well. I read up on many players and even tested them out. I ultimately ended up with a Zen Sleek 20GB and I really enjoy it while I'm traveling.
