Sounds like a lot of cake to drop when you already have a pretty nice camera. How much are you really going to get out of this for that $1400. I say if you had the cash, go for it. If you have to finance it, don't spend money you don't have and something you already do have.

well its 0% so I can easily afford that..... plus this will be a lifelong investment. When I got my current G5, I never anticipated how addicted I would get to it. It was actually a present. But DANG the more I play with the manual features, the MORE I'm loving what you can actually pull off with a good camera.

We took about 1100 pictures on a trip to California this past week - about 800 were of my 6 month old neice and a the rest from a trip to Alcatraz. I'll post some in here to show you how much fun I had with the G5. Just LOVED it.

So I will get use out of it, I guess what's really troubling me about the whole thing is the notion of having to drop $1400 on a "camera"

If it will really make you happy then it is ok to splurg on an few select material items. I just did, and I spent a whole grip more than $1400. Life is short.

rofl.... well dont worry, my turn comes up in November when I buy an Acura TL. A car is a necessity, the extra $$ u spend on top for the fancier models is totally worth it.

Kind of... I still have my old car, which is now my DD/beater. If I hit a rough patch I can dump the S and go back to life as it was, but otherwise I'm keeping it forever.
