this morning at about 630 or so i was awakened to what basically sounded like a war zone from a movie. just loud bangs and the sound of a fucking airliner on my roof. so i jump up and run out back to the beach. well....... with the US Open (golf) starting today the flyby squadron was using republic airport, a small private airport 2 miles from my house, as a stagin area i guess. but they were fucking around over the water for like half an hour. it was SICK. they were buzzing the water, pulling rolls over fire island, generally playing top gun. it was the loudest goddamn thing i have ever heard. so i get dressed and head out to work and i use a road that passes the runway to republic. as im driving, they all start to come in for landing...... they were quite literally less than 100 feet above the road, ripping around in a holding pattern as they landed. and then one by one they were pulling in.
i dont know, i found this really cool to watch. it reallly was like a damn movie. and all the cars on the road were doing 5 miles an hour as every one was popping thier heads out of the window to see the pilots ripping around at 100-200 feet.
