1. You cannot beat terror with terror.
2. The conditions in Gaza are not conducive to peace, if you live in a slum and are oppressed on a daily basis having your friends and family killed on a regular basis then i'm sure many people would strap a bomb on and head for the border.
3. The palsistinian politicians do not want peace.
4. Israel is cornered, beset on all sides. Cornered animals attack, why should humans be different.
5. A weak american president, not too bothered with peace imo, might be more interested if Iran joined in. imo
