Does anyone know from past experience at the mayan how long they stay open on a Wednesday night or does anyone have any inside info.

my guess is that desyn will play from 10-12am, then digweed from 12-4 am.

btw, anyone know where i can rent a portable dat recorder from?

or if anyone has a portable dat recorder that they wouldn't mind lending me? i'll even pay to borrow it.

the opening dj's usually end up playing till 12:30-12:45am at the Mayan.

Get the IRiver IHP-140 which has an optical and analog line in plus a microphone. It records in different formats I'm pretty sure.

Deffo no metal detector. They will pat you down tho. Wonder how you're going to explain the recorder. I have an idea! Mock up a [ms] press pass and tell them you're doing an interview!

hey, that's a pretty stupid rule not to bring a recording device. It's not like I'm going to hook it up to anything somehow. I mean, people can bring cameras, so why not audio recording? My phone can be used as a recording device, is that not allowed either? I would like to record people talking about the show and random stuff like that.. I don't see the problem with that.

Great, if we are going to follow that slippery slope then I guess cameras will be banned too. I wouldn't bitch about not being able to record a show people. Look how bad it is at regular concerts. I hope they don't start banning cameras just because some of us want to start arguing about "our" rights.

they do have a metal detector and they do occasionally use it. they will definitely pat you down.

it is a great venue however. probably the best in the city to hear a set. expect a 3 hour set with digweed going on around 1 and playing no later than 4.
