grrr. completely flooded and my car might be lost

holy shit, i knew we were going to get the remnants of the hurricane here in NY, but i woke up today to massive flooding and rain. (i live 100 feet from the water.) but i just went out for a cigarette and walked to the street and my car is currently holding the water line at the infiniti logo, there is a boat in the street down the block and there is no more shore. me neighbors front door is now the shoreline. dammit my car might be done for, i have to leave my house now just in case, and i have to walk 6 blocks in bare feet so my shoes dont stay soaked in the cab. its also only about 60 degrees and i already have a bad cold.

shitty day. i have to find my roomie's digi camera to show this shit first hand. its like someone built my neioghbors house in the middle of the ocean.

Damn Sean, I'm sorry to hear that. Waking up in the middle of a new lake bites, finding your car having a swim is a ball breaker (don't worry, if the water doesn't reach the air filter, the engine probably won't suffer too much), but having to leave your house "just in case"... that's the worst imo

How big is the risk that your place actually gets flooded?

my cousins house got flooded at least twice a year and they kept the bottom part of their house empty all the time - just recently the city made a whole new riverbed and solved the problem

we were evacutated and luckily we got my car down a few blocks from a nice good samaritan, my roomate however was up in saratoga and his maxima is done for, it was completely flooded. i just came back an hour ago and there actually wasnt much flooding at my house as it sits higher on the property, my neighbors had some real bad damage, thier whole ground floor was wrecked. my lawn is shit now too. eh, could be worse, i feel bad for my roomie as he just bought the woman a ring and his funding is gonna be short for awhile.
