    I hate my computer i HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT

    A nice Windows BSOD last night corrupted my partition tables...so now I had to re-install it on a separate hard drive (which is now going to be my backup) to get things to run and luckily I found a really cool piece of software that *should* (checking and finishing right now) re-build my partition tables OK which would save me a TON of re-scanning and recoveries...

    But my computer sucks. Period. Which is why Windows crashed. Which is why I can't wait to build a new one...

      *whew* re-built tables...saved me a LOT of work. Partition Table Doctor. Good little program.

      Chkdsk naturally suppressed some things on a reboot thanks to corruption, so a fresh copy of Windows is needed (which with this one I kind of like so far; added new tweaks I didn't think of before )

      Now comes some tedious work:

      xcopy old windows partition to another drive to piecemeal recover files and settings (love DOS)

      format partition

      copy newest windows installation to re-formatted partition

      painstakingly go through old Windows install and recover as much as I can back file-wise.

      re-install all the programs I had running...(<--part I hate)

              always. The only solace I can take out of it is that I learn something new every time because I'm willing and able to know what I'm dealing with when it happens...but really, I need a new system. This cheap-ass motherboard I'm running along with all th eresources et Al is why I keep freezing and now crashed out...a new setup would defintely alleviate all of this and give me the room I need to properly expand out.

                  I had one of our computers at work take a back flip on me. Had to do 3 cart wheels and a summersault in reverse to restore tons of the critical data. Was defo no fun. Glad to see you got shit sorted

                      yea this stuff is never fun...I wish for the days sometimes when you just had a few MB on disks and that was it not several hundred GB like now.
