Care to elaborate? I think Ali G fits the market better (well, before the gimmick was used up that is) actually. Ali is a more obvious charicature with easier returning jokes (sex and drugs). Imo that appeals very easily to a broad audience. Borat on the other hand is less of a clown, looks pretty much credible as a journalist from a country lost somewhere in the middle of nowhere of the Ural and as for the jokes... Well, let's say anti-semitism, homophobia and blatant misogyny aren't that politically correct as "me wants to shake yo big babylons"...
Nah, the way Cohen fucks around with his interviewees as Borat is classic. People try to stay polite in order not to insult his country's habits and culture while others desperately try to make him see the light. Ali G after a while was just perceived as a clown and gradually lost his credibility...Comment
