    Oh the irony

    Volkswagen made a deal earlier this year with the German trade unions that workers will have to work longer hours for the same pay. In exchange the unions got the production line of the Golf transfered to the German plants. So Volkswagen Belgium, the 2nd most productive VW factory in Europe where the Golf currently is made, got the ice cold news this week that they will only be keeping the Polo production line. Result: 4.500 jobs lost plus 10.000 indirect jobs.

    I guess that makes the punch line of this VW commercial somewhat ironical, not to say painfully true...

                  Peuegot recently closed a plant near liverpool, it was the most effiecent in the EU.

                  The reason, it's easier and cheaper to sack british workers than french or germans.

                      Yes but that also works as a plus though for starting up a plant in Britain to start with.
