hard drive trashed by magnet

so i'm in the process of opening another retail store last week. (nye and day unfortunately) during the process of painting my office in the back, my two sons are watching harry potter on my laptop on the sales floor. after all work is done . . . my wife comes to let me know that my youngest son (6) had laid a maganet on my keyboard. couldn't get the computer to shut down, so i simply hold down the power button to shut it off. after getting home an hour or two later, try to get a little work done before we open the next morning and cannot get windows to start.

after 2 days of dealing with dell (and numerous issues with the new store) we finally determine that the hard drive is completely fried. this holiday season sucked balls! stress, stress and more stress!!

finally have the new hard drive installed, reformatted and back in business now, thank budha!

anyone ever have this happen? if not . . . keep all magnets away from your computer!

OUCH. this is another benefit of being a pole smoker and not even being able to accidentally reproduce.

Hasnt happened to me but yes, Magnets will ruin just about anything, Most PC Compononents, batteries, Speakers, Tape Heads, everything

even better news, got a virus on the new harddrive before my dumb ass installed any kind of virus protection! fucking grrrrrrrr!!! i had never seen anything like it, whatever it was had me locked down tight. no form of virus protection would run on it. had to reformat again today. i think i have learned my lesson now. bad thing about all this is this a company laptop. had one of my sales reps help me with the process today and i now have SUPER LAPTOP!

this thing runs like a crackhead racing through the streets of ethiopia with a samdwich strapped to his back!
