It's very possible that google got stuck in a session id loop. Did you run the fix for that yet?

See google will see one session ID, then click a link, and see a new session ID, then start re-indexing thinking it's a new site. It will get caught in this loop for half hour until it gets tired of it and goes on.

maybe it is true, given the recent ups and downs... hopefully there will be no more site updates associated with down time anytime soon...
