300

Re: 300

It was hyped up a lot but I still thought it was a decent movie - and they did a really good job with making it look like the graphic novel in live action...

Re: 300

I was visually mezmerized the whole movie. I agree that it cant be compared to Sin City, but it fits nicely in the recreated histocrical events / wars that changed the world such as Troy, Alexander, Gladiator, Kindom of Heaven, etc. The fight scenes hands down were awesome. The slow motion, high contrast look is sweet. The other world / underworld type characters were very imaginative with lots of fantasy. My only criticism was the sex scenes. I thought the overglorified boob bounce and getting from the back was a little dis-tasteful, especially in a theater full of a bunch of high school kids. The movie also left me wanting more. The final ten minutes I thought fell short and came to a grinding hault. Looking forward to a hopefull directors cut / 45 minutes of bonus material / extended scenes. Two thumbs up for sure, I wasnt let down, almost want to see it again- in IMAX.

What he said.... this is pretty much what I was about to put down and I ran into your review jarble. Fantastically put. And yes the end did leave me wanting more. To quick too soon.

Re: 300

The other thing I wish they could've improved in the movie were the "scenic" effects. Too dull too dark through the course of the entire movie. They could've easily brightened the daylight shots or even offered a little more distinction/effect on the sides of the hills where they fought the battles. All was too much of a blur.

Re: 300

yeah, DVD may seem very blah compared to an IMAX version. Wish I could've seen it in IMAX... Oh well. Was still pretty good on a regular movie screen.
